It all started yesterday, Monday the 20th April. Willy Paul's Mother called us and I was the one who picked that call. Willy Paul’s mother had requested to speak to Ghafla! urgently.
I marshaled our cameraman and a colleague and rushed to Mathare, Area 3. That’s where Willy’s mother resides. Oh I forgot to mention, she has been staying there ever since she gave birth to her celebrity kid by the name Willy Paul... In a tiny but nicely lit single room on the third floor of an dilapidated building...for the last 25 years or so.
She was there by the gate when we arrived, she struggled to put a smile the moment we introduced ourselves. Dressed in a kitenge dress and covering her head with an African kitamba,Mrs. Salome’s face bore some resemblance to that one of her famous son.
She ushered us in to her house and made us feel at home. Even before we set our camera to start recording every second of the interview, she began opening up to us. The voice of a broken-hearted mother...
“Mama Willis,Mama Willis…” A nosy neighbor knocked on the door, my colleague stretched to open the door. She turned away and left the moment she spotted his bristly look.
Imagine this, you keep seeing your son on TV and hear him on radio then one day you wake up to see him introducing another lady as his mother. This is the quandary Mrs. Salome Radido is in.
This is the fake mom
Top of my list was identifying the mysterious woman Willy flaunted roughly 10 weeks ago as his mother. Just to make sure we are reading from the same page; the media was awash with photos of a lady we all thought was Willy’s mother when his biological mom went missing.
All of us used the wrong photo for Willy’s mom. But it was Willy who introduced the lady to us as his mama. Poor us, we were all duped!
You see,Willy Paul had been flaunting this woman he called "Mom" on Instagram sometimes back...A healthy-looking,shades-clad,well-manicured smiling woman who,in that photo,appeared very close to and cosy with Willy Paul.
But this was NOT Willy Paul's real Mom. And Willy NEVER told the World just why he's calling her Mom. And just why he appeared so close to her...And why he was holding her so affectionately.
What's more? Even after Willy Paul's fans flooded his Instagram with sweet comments telling him just how beautiful and nice and sweet his Mom looked,Willy Paul NEVER corrected them....And never told his fans that this was NOT the his real Mother.
The World believed that this was Willy's Mom. And Willy Paul could not have been happier

Believe it or not, ever since Willy left her mother’s house in 2012 to fly on his own,his mother has NEVER stepped foot in his house. NEVER.
The ‘Tam Tam’ hit maker stays in Tassia,Embakasi. It’s just around Nairobi,really. And it’s not as if Mrs. Salome needs an American visa to fly to his crib.
Willy’s mother stays less than 20 KM from his son yet about three years has passed now and his mother has no idea where his son lives.
The mother still lives in the same 'ka-single' room Willy was brought up in and his son lives the glitzy life of a celebrity! He must have deleted his past so quickly, perhaps if he had preserved history book he would have remembered his mother went through hell just to give him the best she could afford.
The room she stays in is less than Kes 10,000 a month, surely Willy can afford something better than that for the woman who not only bore but breastfed and raised him.
One thing though, his mother isn’t even bitter with her son for not dragging her out of poverty pit, his filthy ‘betrayal’ is what broke her heart into pieces.
She couldn’t comprehend how her own son had turned a blind eye on her, Willy doesn’t want the public to know about his mother. Interestingly, Mrs. Salome doesn’t even have a beastly look to scare anyone’s eyes.
